LIFE TOGETHER
Annual Steak-Fry/BBQ – Tuesday, July 22, 2008 at 6:00 pm, in the Gym, is the Brotherhood Men’s Ministry sponsored annual steak-fry and BBQ. There will be great food and fellowship, including live music by “Rev It Up!” (a couple of Lee pastors and their friends) and Marlyn Wahlstrom. Cost per person is just $7.50 for adults, and $4.00 for children. This will also be a benefit fund raiser for our roof and facility repair – giving a “boost” to some necessary and costly repair work. The plan is to seek matching funds from Thrivent for any funds we raise. Come and join the fun and support the cause! A sign- up sheet will be made available during Fellowship time on Sunday (this is important so we can get an accurate count).
Special Church Council Meeting – Wednesday, July 23, 2008 - There will be a special church Council meeting at 6:30 pm for the purpose of reviewing and planning, based on our current Vision for Ministry (5-Year Plan), with a special emphasis on youth ministry and music and worship concerns.
Movie Nights – The Christian Education Committee would like to invite families to join us on Friday, July 25th (movie: “Ratatouille”), Friday, August 1st and Friday, August 15th in the Youth Room for Movie Nights beginning at 8:00 pm. Please bring a blanket and snacks. Admission is free. The movie, popcorn and cool drinks will be provided. See you there!
Mariner Night – Friday, August 22nd – Thrivent Financial for Lutherans is having a Mariner Night. Tickets are $5.00. If you are a Thrivent member please let us know. Each Thrivent member household may purchase up to 5 tickets. Let’s see how many Glendale Lutheran Members we can take to the Ball Game!! More details to follow. Congregational Potluck – The Christian Education Committee is planning a congregational potluck picnic this summer. Date and details to follow. Stay tuned.
Congregational Accompanist Search Update – Progress is being made! Several excellent candidates are in the process of being interviewed and there are hopeful signs that we will soon have a congregational accompanist in place who will provide music leadership on both the organ and piano. For now, the plan is to have more emphasis on organ music, hopefully with an organist substitute in place within a few weeks. Please keep this search process in your prayers.
Lutheran Woman Today Bible Study – Saturday, August 26 – Meet the authors of this year’s LWT Bible Study – The Hidden Hand of God. The authors, Rev. Gwen Sayler and Rev. Ann Fritschel will be presenting an overview at First Lutheran, in Poulsbo, on Saturday, August 26th. Registration will begin at 8:00 am, with lunch served by the ladies of First Lutheran. If you are interested, please complete a registration form (at the Welcome Desk) and mail it to the address on the form, along with a $15.00 check. Kay Nicholson will be going that morning, so if you are interested in car pooling, please contact the church office at 206.244.9400.
Family Camp at Lutherwood – August 29 – September 1, 2008, Spend Labor Day weekend on beautiful Lake Samish, just north of Mount Vernon. There will be lots of fun, activities, and free time. We will have great teaching and campfire worship. No need to RSVP, just come when you can. Campsites are $20 per night per family. Check out the camp at www.camplutherwood.org. New Member Sunday – Sunday, September 28, 2008 will be our New Member Sunday. We look forward to welcoming new members into our Glendale community.
Thank You! – Thanks to all you folks who have pitched in to help with maintenance, repairs, cleaning, and all things necessary while Paul Kragness has been healing from surgery. Your involvement and expertise has been a blessing.
