GELC & GLS Wish List – Both the church and school have been blessed to receive a generous gift of a new HP Pavilion Entertainment PC, donated by Jim and Debbie Wickham. This will be extremely helpful to our church ministry leaders and school teachers. Thank you Jim and Debbie, and everyone else for your prayers and support.
Wednesday Morning Bible Study – Please join us for Wednesday morning Bible Study at 10:00 am in the Fellowship Room. It will be great to see you there! (Current study: The book of Acts.)
Saturday Morning Men’s Bible Study & Breakfast – Please mark your calendars to indicate the GELC Men’s Saturday Morning Bible Study & Breakfast will not take place during the month of January. The first of these meetings during 2010, will be Saturday, February 6th, at 7:30 am. See you then!
Lutheran World Relief News – During the month of January, we will be gathering items for Sewing Kits. Each year, LWR distributes sewing kits overseas. Many are used in vocational training programs to teach men and women sewing skills that they can use to earn an income.
The following items are needed for each kit:
Three yards of 44” or 45” wide cotton or cotton-blend fabric; four yards if 36” (no knits or 100% polyester)
One spool of matching thread, 300 yards
One card of 6 or more ½” to 5/8” matching buttons
If you wish to contribute toward this cause, items may be left on the display table in the narthex. Soap, individually wrapped, is always an on-going need. Thank you. Maren Bedal
Library Use – As of January 1st, please note that any GELC meetings that usually take place in the Library on Saturday mornings, will be moved to Classroom #105. For further information, please contact the church office. Thank you.
Hearing Aids – For the benefit of our church members who require hearing assistance while attending worship, we have provided hearing aids at the back of the Narthex. We want everyone to be able to hear what is being said, and wish to continue to provide this assistance. Unfortunately, it has come to our attention that some of these aids are missing, and quite possibly, it is just because they have, inadvertently, been placed into someone’s pocket or purse, with the intention to placing them back on the table, in the Narthex, where they are to be signed in. If you happen to be in possession of one of these hearing aids, we ask that you please return it so that everyone will be able to enjoy the services. If one is in need of a battery, please speak with one of our ushers, who will be able to assist you. Thank you very much.
Free Christian Book Club Exchange – A Christian book club exchange for GELC, Glendale Lutheran School, and community is located in the church Gym. Lots of books are already available. Please take one or more; bring some to share; return or pass them on. If you have any questions, please contact Nellie Sattelberg at (206) 433-6273.
Prayer Line – We have established a GELC Prayer Line (ext. 25) that will replace the Prayer Chain. Of course, folks can still "chain" by sharing prayer concerns with each other by phone. The new process is simple and here's how it works: Call the church at 244-9400 and press ext. 25 for the Prayer Line. You will hear an outgoing message giving names, as well as having the opportunity to identify yourself and leave your own prayer request message at the beep. You are encouraged to use the Prayer Line.
Please remember in your prayers: Elsie Ball, Elvina Jones, Carol Woodward, Linda Holman, Eileen Grann, Roy Wilcox, Nellie Saddelberg, Eva Kragness, Nancy Kragness, family & friends of Art Thompson, and Melanie
