CONGREGATIONAL ACCOMPANIST

CONGREGATIONAL ACCOMPANIST wanted to serve Glendale Lutheran Church (ELCA) in Burien (SW of Seattle, by SEA-TAC Airport). This position will be quarter-time, and its responsibilities will be determined by the qualifications and experience of the successful candidate. The musician at Glendale will enjoy sharing their musical giftedness in an exceptional, acoustically wonderful sanctuary, and among people who support and appreciate a high quality music ministry. This person will work cooperatively with the Director of Music Ministries and the Senior Pastor.
INSTRUMENTS:
The organ in the main sanctuary has three manuals, thirty-five stops, forty-two ranks and 2,571 pipes. The instrument was built by M.P. Moller, Inc., Hagerstown, Maryland. For more information, please review the Organ Description.
Yamaha 7’ grand piano
RESPONSIBILITIES:
At a minimum, the position will require 6-8 total hours per week, including rehearsing and providing organ/piano music for all Sunday morning worship services and other special services of the church.
Accompany the Chancel Choir at mid-week rehearsals and Sunday morning.

SKILLS & QUALIFICATIONS:

Knowledge of both the organ and the piano with ability to sufficiently accompany the congregation sight-reading hymns and songs, liturgical music and easier choir accompaniments.
Ability to creatively accompany the congregational music with ample rehearsal time.
Knowledge of the Lutheran Church, matching appropriate music with the themes of the church year.
Ability to work well with others.
EDUCATION: Bachelor of Music or equivalent required, preferably in Organ or Piano. At least two years of professional experience.
SALARY will be commensurate with education, experience and responsibilities.
